BSc in Geology from University Federal of Bahia (1976), master's in Mineral Exploration from Imperial College of Sciences and Technology-University of London (1983) and doctorate in Economic Geology from University of Brasília (2000). Since 2003 is the Head of the Department of Mineral Resources at Geological Survey of Brazil. Is a research associate at University of Brasília and Guest Lecturer at Universidad Nacional de Colombia-Sede Bogotá since 2009. Member of the Brazilian Geological Society and Fellow of the Society of Economic Geology. Has experience in Geosciences, focusing on Metalogenesis and Mineral Exploration, acting on the following subjects: Mineral Data Assessment, Igneous Petrology and Economic Geology of base and platinum group metals.
THE METALOGENETIC POTENTIAL OF BRAZIL AND GOVERNMENT POLICIES TO SUSTAIN MINERAL EXPLORATION AND MINING ACTIVITY
During the first decade of the 21st Century, the Brazilian mineral Industry has experienced a remarkable growth due to the spectacular world demand for metals and powered by a strong domestic demand for mineral commodities. This booming mineral sector coupled with the great metalogenetic potential of the Brazilian territory have attracted great attention from major mining and junior exploration companies to invest in mining and mineral exploration projects in Brazil. Government policies were implemented to avoid investments being halted by future lack of basic geological information and thus to attain sustained economic growth of exploration and mining activities
