Since 2000, Argentina Mining awards distinguished professionals from the mining sector in Argentina. Several professionals have received the recognition on 12 years of the creation of the awards, from both the government as well as the public sectors.

In 2012 the winners will be selected by voting in this page. Vote in all or some of the categories, and for one person in each category.

In the case of the International Entrepreneur, voting closes on August 24 at 12am, GMT -3 (Buenos Aires time). The rest of the categories close on August 28 at the same time.

Categories and nominees per category

In this ocassion, the organizinge and advisory committees have nominated:

1. Outstanding Professional: Mining (geologist or mining engineer)

The criteria behind this award is to recognize a geologist or mining engineer that stands out for identifying deposits of significance, someone who left a memorable mark by his/her technical ability or his/her track record of project generation and development. In 2010 the award went to Eduardo Machuca,Troy Resources.

2. Outstanding Professional: other disciplines (lawyer, accountant, communicator, administrator, etc.).

The criteria behind this award is to recognize a professional, from a discipline other than geology and mining engineering, that made a significant contribution to the sector. In 2010, the award went to Carlos Saravía Frías, partner of Saravia Frías y Mazzinghi Lawyers.

3. Outstanding International Entrepreneur

The criteria behind this award is to recognize an international investor or entrepreneur that believed in Argentina's mining potential over the years, bringing his/her companies and investments. In 2010, the award went to Ross Beaty, President of Pan American Silver.

4. Outstanding RSE Management for Exploring Company / Organization

The criteria behind this award is to recognize those companies, either exploration or mining, as well as related entities who have applied sustainable development policies, special care for the environment, respect for the landowners, employees and their stakeholders in general. Also, NGOs and other entities that have a significant role in the development of the activity are included. In 2010 the award went to Xstrata Copper.

  1. 1. In this category, we recognize professionals and technicians of any discipline whose contribution has been valuable for the Mining sector, especially those women who have reached hierarchical positions in state entities or firms. This new category has been created based on the space that women have gained in the latest years in different areas of the mining activity.
