Summary

The global economy has entered a "greening" stage, driven by policies to curb greenhouse gases and local air pollution. More than 1.5 million electric vehicles were sold globally in 2017, equivalent to a year-on-year growth of more than 100% over the 731 thousand sold in 2015. The global investment in renewable energy amounted to US$ 280 billion in 2015, six times more than the total in 2004. This transition towards a greener economy and its infrastructure requirements has significant impacts on the demand of various commodities, such as lithium, copper, nickel, cobalt, lead, zinc and thermal coal. The presentation will show our view regarding this revolution in transportation, the implications for the lithium industry (including a scenario analysis) and the impact for Argentina.
