Summary

Pegmatites have been exploited in central Argentina for many years, primarily for the production of feldspars and quartz for the ceramics industry. With the recent world demand for lithium batteries, spodumene has become an important source of lithium supplementing the traditional lithium brines, which are located in northern Argentina, Chile and Bolivia. Recent exploration of these central Argentine pegmatites by a number of domestic and international firms has shown the presence of significant spodumene. These resources are being proven with the intention of developing spodumene concentrate and lithium hydroxide products for export and future domestic consumption. Dark Horse holds extensive exploration and mining licenses in Cordoba and San Luis and is rapidly advancing the properties to enable first production in 2019.
